NEW DELHI: Maha Kumbh 2025, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited Prayagraj on January 16 to assess the administrative preparations undertaken by the Indian Army. The Maha Kumbh, renowned as one of the worldโs largest religious congregations, is expected to draw millions of devotees from around the globe.
During his visit, General Dwivedi reviewed the extensive arrangements made by the army to support the civil administration in managing the massive influx of pilgrims. He commended the formationโs efforts and dedication in ensuring the seamless execution of this spiritual and cultural event. The armyโs involvement includes setting up temporary bridges, providing medical assistance, and ensuring overall security during the event.

The Indian Armyโs official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @adgpi, shared insights from the COASโs visit, highlighting the armyโs commitment to facilitating the eventโs success. The tweet emphasized the collaborative efforts between the military and local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
In preparation for the Maha Kumbh, the Prayagraj administration has implemented advanced technological solutions to manage the vast crowds. An AI-based computerized lost and found centre has been established to assist individuals who may get separated from their groups. Additional Mela Adhikari Vivek Chaturvedi stated, โAn AI-based lost and found centre has been set up. Arrangements are made there for accommodation, clothes, and food for the people who are lost.โ He further added that there has not been a single case where they have been unable to reunite lost individuals with their relatives.
The significance of the Maha Kumbh extends beyond national boundaries. On January 15, a 21-member delegation from 10 countries arrived at the Arail Tent City in Prayagraj to participate in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam. This international participation underscores the eventโs global spiritual appeal and Indiaโs rich cultural heritage.
