JAIPUR: At a time when there is no consensus in the BJP over its CM candidate in Rajasthan, the women voters in several parts of the desert state are rallying behind the 48-year-old Congress leader who missed the bus for the top job in the state. The Gujjar leader, Sachin Pilot, who’s following in the state has witnessed a seesaw swing as he was offered pillared by his colleagues as too soft and immature, there seems to be a reversal of fortune for this son of former Congress leader Rajesh Pilot.
As this correspondent Rohan Dua of The New Indian moved between Tonk, Bundi and Jaipur, here is what the women voters have to say.
Sumitra Sharma, a Jaipur local, expressed her preference for Sachin Pilot as the potential Chief Minister of the state when asked about the likely candidate. She contended that he would be a more suitable choice for the desert state.
“I think Sachin Pilot’s influence weighs more in the state than the current CM Ashok Gehlot.” Rupa, a student who hails from Tonk, the home turf of Pilot, echoed similar sentiments about wanting to see Sachin Pilot as their CM. She said, “I want Sachin Pilot as Rajasthan’s CM. He has worked a lot for Tonk,” she remarked.
Deepa Kanwar, a homemaker from Tonk, affirmed her love for the Congress candidate from her constituency and said “Sachin Pilot should be the CM. He has done a lot of work for the place.”
Numerous people across various locations in Rajasthan have expressed their backing for the Grand Old Party. Should the Congress emerge victorious in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, it would break the longstanding tradition of changing the ruling government in the state every five years.

Firdauz Khan, an auto rickshaw driver, mentioned that there is no prevalent support for the BJP in the state. He predicted that the Congress will overcome the trend of incumbency and secure victory. “I think Congress will win in this election. Since there is no atmosphere of BJP in the state,” he said. Kritika, a resident of Tonk, said that the Congress will win in the fight between the incumbent party and the saffron party.
