NEW DELHI: Edelweiss Asset Management CEO Radhika Gupta, a leading name in India’s financial sector, recently opened up about her childhood experiences in Pakistan as the daughter of an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.
In a candid conversation with The New Indian Executive Editor Rohan Dua, she shared insights into her family’s life in the country and the challenges they faced.
When asked about her time in Pakistan, Radhika shared that her memories were quite limited due to her young age but emphasized the challenges faced by her family as Indian diplomats in Pakistan.
“The circumstances for an Indian diplomat in Pakistan were never easy. This is something my parents have often told me,” she explained.
Despite the difficulties, Radhika highlighted her parents’ resilience and positive outlook during their stay.
“My parents always said that even though the conditions at home were tough — there were times when things were tapped or bugged — they had the best time of their lives in Pakistan,” she shared.
For Gupta, the key takeaway from her parents’ experiences was their unwavering optimism. “In all the tough situations my father had to handle, I’ve always admired his sense of optimism,” she added.
