India stands for vibrancy, unity, and universal well-being, said minister of state (MoS) for external affairs Meenakshi Lekhi while underlining that India’s message of positivity is well received across the globe.
Speaking to The New Indian, Lekhi also said that the country is rightly placed to act as a bridge between things that divide the world.
“India stands for vibrancy, India stands for oneness in humanity, and India stands for sharing and caring, and well-being of everyone. These are our messages,” she said at an event organised for diplomats on the occasion of Holi.
The Union minister, who is also in charge of the ministry of culture, said India brings so much of positivity in a deeply divided world.
She further said, “India is a country of the north and the south. India is very much a country of the east. And by virtue of its democracy, institutions, free media, and human rights that are deeply engrained in our Constitution, we are very much a country of the West as well.”
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of the oneness of humanity, Lekhi said that India is prepared to play a bigger role in maintaining peace and addressing critical issues ailing the modern world.
In her message on the occasion of Holi, she said, “Let’s work together and let there be harmony. World is reverberating with the positive message from India.”
A galaxy of ambassadors and diplomats from many countries descended on the Holi celebration event hosted by the minister in New Delhi. Clad in traditional dresses, artists from different Indian states performed at the event.
Themed “Vanishing Traditions of Holi”, the event gave a glimpse of the traditional style of celebrating the festival of colour in different regions of the country.
The minister was seen playing colours and dancing with diplomats to the tune of popular Bollywood and folk songs.
