DEHRADUN: Remember the song Tera Yaar Hoon Mein from the 2018 movie ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’? Well, remember the yaar (friend) always even when you are high with happiness.

A man from Haridwar learnt the hard lesson as one of his close friends slapped Rs 50 lakhs defamation after he left his friend out of his baraat (wedding party).

Ravi, a resident of Bahadarabad of Haridwar district, alleged that his friend Chandrashekhar, who is a resident of Devanagar Kankhal area of Haridwar district, inflicted ‘serious mental torture’ on him and his friends.

Arun Bhadauria, counsel for Ravi told The New Indian, “The complainant along with his friends participated in wedding preparations of Chandrashekhar. He helped in distribution of invitations and was promised that he will be coming to the wedding party which will leave for Bijnaur district in the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh at 5 pm on June 23.”

However, when Ravi reached the groom’s home there was no one present. After he called the groom on his mobile phone he was told by the latter that the wedding party had left earlier and they should go back home now.

Miffed with the behaviour of his friend, Ravi decided to take the matter to the judiciary. The notice dated June 24, 2022, stated that failing to apologize and pay Rs 50 lakh the case will be taken to the court for further proceedings.
