PATNA: In a significant political development, the Mahagathbandhan, now in the Opposition, is gearing up for its first mega joint rally in Bihar on March 3, in the state capital. The Jan Vishwas Maharally at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan marks a crucial moment for the alliance, featuring prominent leaders like Rahul Gandhi. This rally follows Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s exit from the Mahagathbandhan, aligning with the BJP.
The anticipation is high, with Mahagathbandhan seeking to make a bold statement against the BJP. Lalu Prasad Yadav, the chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has called upon the people of Bihar to join the rally and collectively work towards defeating the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Posters and banners across the state’s capital convey messages of saving democracy and ousting the BJP.

RJD’s extensive preparations for the event include accommodations for over 50,000 people at the Veterinary ground in Patna. All official residences of Mahagathbandhan leaders have also been arranged to ensure a smooth experience for rally attendees. Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who recently concluded his Jan Vishwas Yatra covering 38 districts, is set to address the rally.
Key leaders from various parties will join the rally, reinforcing the unity of the Mahagathbandhan. D. Raja from the Communist Party of India, Sitaram Yechury from CPI (Marxist), and Dipankar Bhattacharya from CPI (Marxist-Leninist) will be present alongside other leaders. Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha expressed confidence in the rally’s success, emphasising the unprecedented response witnessed during Tejashwi Yadav’s Jan Vishwas Yatra. He highlighted the trust the youth have placed in Tejashwi Yadav, particularly in terms of employment opportunities.

Regarding the rally’s spontaneous attendance, Jha stated, “Tejashwi ji has broken the barriers of caste and religion during his Yatra, and you will see its impact on Sunday during the Maharally.” The rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna comes at a crucial juncture as the Mahagathbandhan positions itself against the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Leaders are expected to respond to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech, outlining their accomplishments during the 17-month government in Bihar.
The city of Patna is abuzz with Mahagathbandhan supporters gathering for the rally, causing traffic diversions and requiring special security arrangements. For the entertainment of the workers, an orchestra dance was organised at various places in Patna on Saturday night. Renowned Bhojpuri singer, Khesari Lal was also part of the program, and several other entertainers were invited. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad himself reached Miller High School ground late at night, where he encouraged the workers.
