Lalu Yadav regains consciousness after kidney transplant; donor daughter stable

RJD supremo and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav underwent a successful kidney surgery, informed Bihar Deputy CM and Lalu’s son Tejashwi Yadav on Monday. He also said that Lalu has regained consciousness and is able to speak to everyone.

“After Papa’s (Lalu Yadav) successful kidney transplant, he was shifted from operation theater to ICU. Donor elder sister Rohini Acharya is healthy. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes”, tweeted Tejashwi Yadav.

Lalu Yadav had been battling kidney problems for a long time. In the month of November, he had gone to Singapore for a test following which doctors suggested a kidney transplant. Presently, most of the family members including wife Rabri Devi and daughter Dr. Misa Bharati was present in Singapore to support their father Lalu Yadav.

Rohini, Lalu Yadav’s younger daughter among 10 children, decided to donate her kidney to save father’s life.

Earlier on Sunday, Rohini’s pre-surgery tests were conducted following which she was cleared for kidney donation. Rohini resides in Singapore with her family.

In a tweet earlier expressing love for father Lalu Yadav she wrote, “Father who gives me a voice in this world, who is everything to me, if I can contribute even a small part of my life, I will feel very lucky.”

Lalu Yadav’s son and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Prasad Yadav had left for Singapore on Saturday along with the party’s National General Secretary Bhola Yadav.

Before the operation, Rohini Acharya had tweeted stating they are ready for the medical procedure. She wrote, “Ready to rock and roll. Wish me a good luck”
