NEW DELHI/LAKHIMPUR KHERI: A Congress delegation led by senior leader Rahul Gandhi today met President of India Ram Nath Kovind demanding the resignation of MoS (Home) Ajay Mishra Teni whose son is accused of running over an SUV on farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3.
“We told the President that the accused’s father who is MoS Home, should be removed from the post as a fair probe is not possible in his presence. We also demanded inquiry be done by two sitting judges of Supreme Court,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters.
“President has given us the assurance that he will discuss the matter with the government today itself,” Priyanka Gandhi said.
Besides Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, senior party leaders AK Antony and Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and KC Venugopal were present during the meeting.
