Lovepreet’s Killers Need To Be Hanged Till Death: Family

LAKHIMPUR KHERI: With a swollen throat and tearful eyes, Satnam Singh, father of Lovepreet Singh, is yet to swallow the fact that his only son is no more. In a violent turn of events in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri, On Sunday (October 3, 2021) the deceased got a call from a friend to join the protest against the arrival of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya. 19-year-old Lovevpreet was an ambitious teenager who wanted to study in Australia & make a living, so that he could let his father retire, who works as a farmer and an electrician. The teenager was preparing for IELTS and had just completed his class 12th. While talking to The New Indian, the father, trembling with shock, stated that he wants the alleged culprit Ashish Mishra, son of Ajay Kumar Mishra (Minister of State for Home Affairs) to be hanged to death and the Union Minister must be impeached with immediate effect.

The father broke down while describing the heart wrenching injuries to which Lovepreet succumbed, car tyre marks on his body and broken ribs. His neighbour, also known as Satnam Singh, was one of the key eyewitnesses to the gory incident in which Lovepreet was killed along with several others.

Jagdish Singh, caretaker of the local gurdwara, remembered Lovepreet as a sincere boy who often came to the gurdwara to assist him. There was a pall of gloom as people from nearby localities kept pouring to express solidarity with the wailing family and provide them emotional support in their greatest hour of grief. Lovepreet’s two sisters, their inconsolable mother realise the battle is long to bring the culprits to the book. The family, holding a Rs 45 lakh cheque from the government, pleads for justice, for there can never be any monetary compensation of a life lost.
