Ladakh Has Emerged as India’s Ice Hockey Capital, Government Started Prioritizing Sports Post 2014

Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur revealed ‘The Game Changer,’ a blueprint for Ice Hockey development in Ladakh, commissioned by the Ladakh Administration and crafted by Royal Enfield. The goal is to elevate the Indian Ice Hockey team to the 2042 Winter Olympics.

Over 90% of India’s Ice Hockey players hail from Ladakh, and the initiative aims not just at sports but also at resilience, livelihood, and winter tourism. The blueprint addresses equipment, talent scouting, training camps, and governance, marking a significant step toward making Ladakh a winter sports hub.
