Key campaigners for J&K polls: PM Modi, Amit Shah

SRINAGAR: In preparation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a lineup of influential campaigners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leader Jagat Prakash Nadda.

This announcement was made on Wednesday by Arun Singh, the national general secretary of the BJP, who presented the list of prominent campaigners to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K PK Pole.

The list features six Union Ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, who will join the campaign alongside Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Services & Sports Anurag Thakur, Minister for Women & Child Development and Minority Affairs Smriti Irani, and Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Furthermore, three Chief Ministers are set to embark on the campaign trail in Jammu and Kashmir, namely Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh, and Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand. Additionally, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma have been enlisted as star campaigners for the region.

While the BJP has revealed two candidates for the Udhampur-Doda and Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha constituencies, including Union Minister of State in the PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma, the party is yet to disclose its candidates for the Anantnag-Poonch-Rajouri (APR), Srinagar, and Baramulla Parliamentary seats.

Sources suggest that BJP UT chief Ravinder Raina is a leading contender for the Anantnag-Poonch-Rajouri constituency, with the party formulating panels of three candidates for each of these crucial seats.
