NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to prioritize loan waivers for farmers and the middle class instead of wealthy individuals.
In his letter, Kejriwal stated, “The Prime Minister should announce that no loans for the rich will be waived off. Instead, focus on waiving farmers’ loans and middle-class home loans. This step would greatly benefit the middle class.”

Highlighting his calculations, he added, “If loans for the wealthy are not waived, tax rates could be halved. Currently, someone earning ₹12 lakhs annually pays nearly their entire salary in taxes. This is the plight of the middle class.”
As the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections approach, AAP is ramping up efforts to secure its traditional slum vote bank, a key demographic for the party.
Facing competition from BJP and Congress in these areas, AAP has devised a focused strategy to solidify its support.

Sources within AAP revealed, “The BJP has been working hard to attract slum voters. To counter this, we have launched a comprehensive campaign to retain their trust.”

AAP’s plan revolves around mobilizing educated youth from slum communities, many of whom studied in Delhi government schools. These youth, already influential within their localities, have been trained to spread awareness about AAP’s achievements.
“They are highlighting how the AAP government has delivered free electricity, water, education, healthcare, and improved infrastructure in slum areas,” sources explained. “We aim to ensure the community understands the tangible benefits of AAP’s governance and future plans.”
