Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee to hold crucial meeting today on AAP-Centre dispute

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to visit Kolkata on Tuesday to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The main agenda of the meeting is to garner support from like-minded opposition parties against the center’s ordinance regarding the transfer and posting of officers serving the Delhi government.

The discussion is also expected to touch upon the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as anti-BJP parties in the country are intensifying their dialogue. Sources from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) reveal that Mamata Banerjee has been meeting with leaders of opposition parties at her residence or the state secretariat in Kolkata over the past few months.

In a related development, Bihar Chief Minister and JDU chief Nitish Kumar arrived in Delhi along with the Deputy Chief Minister to meet Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday. The meeting took place at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence on Flag Staff Road at 11:30 am.

According to Kejriwal, if the BJP intends to pass the ordinance as a bill in the Rajya Sabha, all opposition parties must unite against it. He believes that blocking the bill through opposition votes would be a significant development ahead of the 2024 elections.

Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit Delhi to participate in the Niti Aayog’s governing council meeting on May 27. Apart from attending the meeting, discussions between like-minded parties are also anticipated, given the presence of other chief ministers from various states.

The Niti Aayog’s Governing Council meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to address topics related to the economy, agriculture, and health.
