Kejriwal granted bail in ED summons matter by Court

The ED had lodged two separate complaints against Kejriwal. The Chief Minister appeared before the Court, which then asked him to furnish a bail bond of Rs 15,000 while granting him bail in both matters.

NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday in connection with the complaint lodged against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for not complying with the summons regarding the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam.

The ED had lodged two separate complaints against Kejriwal. The Chief Minister appeared before the Court, which then asked him to furnish a bail bond of Rs 15,000 while granting him bail in both matters. In addition to Rs 15,000, the Court asked him to furnish a security bond of Rs one lakh in the matter.

ASG SV Raju appeared for the ED, while Senior Advocate Ramesh Gupta and Advocate Rajiv Mohan appeared for Kejriwal1. The Court will hear this matter on April 11. Yesterday, the sessions court of the Rouse Avenue Court dismissed Kejriwal’s application, stating he would have to appear. The ED had sent him eight summons to join the probe regarding the Delhi liquor scam. However, Kejriwal didn’t appear before the probe agency, calling the summons illegal.

The ED then moved to court and lodged two separate complaints against Kejriwal. After hearing the arguments, the Court asked Kejriwal to appear before it on March 16. Meanwhile, Kejriwal challenged the Court order on the ED’s complaint, moving a plea before the sessions Court. However, his plea was dismissed.

Now, the ED can send him a ninth summon to appear in connection with the liquor scam matter. ED wants to record his statement on the matter.
