Kejriwal extends Diwali bonus: Rs 7,000 for Group D workers, Rs 1,200 for temps

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor also announced a Diwali bonus of Rs 1,200 for all temporary workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

NEW DELHI: After declaring Diwali bonus for Group B and C’s non-gazetted officers, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a Rs 7,000 bonus for Group D employees as well, on Tuesday.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor also announced a Diwali bonus of Rs 1,200 for all temporary workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Addressing a digital press conference, Kejriwal unveiled the details of this initiative. He emphasised that all municipal employees are an integral part of the AAP’s extended family and highlighted the party’s commitment to the welfare of government workers.

As a part of this initiative, he declared, “All MCD Group B, C, and D’s non-gazetted employees will receive a Diwali bonus of Rs 7,000. Temporary workers with over three years of service will also receive a bonus of Rs 1,200.”

This move not only aims to uplift the spirits of municipal employees during the festive season but also recognises their dedication and contribution.

During the press conference, Kejriwal also underlined AAP’s efforts to ensure timely salary payments to municipal employees. He remarked how all municipal employees have started receiving their salaries on time.

“You may recall that they had to protest for timely salaries in the past. After 14 years, employees are once again receiving their salaries punctually. We have provided permanent employment to more than 6,000 temporary workers,” Kejriwal said.

During the press conference, he also commended the efforts of the MCD to regularise the employment of employees, bringing about a system that transformed temporary employees into permanent ones.

Earlier, Delhi mayor Shelly Oberoi had announced that all employees including the temporary workers would receive a Diwali bonus under the leadership of AAP at the helm of affairs. This was perceived as a welcome step in the right direction to combat unemployment and provide employee satisfaction.
