Kejriwal asserts no Haryana government without AAP’s backing

NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, has reiterated that no government can be formed in Haryana without the support of his party. Addressing a rally in Badshahpur, Gurgaon on September 29, Kejriwal emphasized AAP’s crucial role in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5.

Kejriwal was campaigning for AAP candidate Beer Singh, also known as Beeru Sarpanch. Kejriwal, who was recently released from Tihar Jail after being granted bail by the Supreme Court in a case linked to the alleged excise policy scam, spoke passionately about his party’s vision for Haryana. He highlighted AAP’s achievements in Delhi and Punjab, promising similar reforms in Haryana if his party is voted to power.

“Haryana wants change and development. The government cannot be formed in Haryana without AAP’s support,” Kejriwal declared. He accused the BJP of targeting him due to his commitment to honesty and transparency, claiming that his imprisonment was an attempt to break his spirit. “I was deliberately jailed in a false case,” he said, appealing to voters to oust the ruling BJP.

Kejriwal further accused the BJP of targeting him due to his integrity and AAP’s accomplishments in Delhi. “They harassed me mentally and denied my insulin injections for 15 days, hoping to break my spirit. But with God’s grace and your blessings, they failed,” he remarked. He contrasted AAP-led states with BJP-ruled ones, noting that electricity is free in AAP states while BJP states suffer from high power tariffs.

“If the people of Haryana believe I am dishonest, don’t vote for me. But if you trust my honesty, then vote for AAP,” he urged. Kejriwal outlined several key promises, including free electricity, improved education and healthcare systems, and a monthly allowance of ₹1,000 for women. He urged voters to support AAP for a corruption-free and progressive Haryana.

Kejriwal criticized the BJP for failing to address key issues such as corruption, unemployment, inflation, and drug addiction, adding that Haryana is demanding change. The rally saw a significant turnout, with supporters cheering for Kejriwal’s vision. As the election date approaches, AAP’s influence in Haryana’s political landscape appears to be growing, positioning the party as a potential kingmaker in the formation of the next state government.

Haryana’s Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on October 5, with vote counting to take place on October 8.
