Panun Kashmir demanded that the action against illegal encroachments should reach its final conclusion. It said, “Land grab and encroachments has been an instrument of demographic war waged on Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Lauding the efforts of J&K administration’s drive against illegal encroachment, Panun Kashmir, a political organization of Kashmiri Pandits, on Wednesday demanded formation of a Special Investigative Team (SIT) to investigate, assess and analyze the role of National Conference (NC), and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the promotion and perpetuation of separatist ideology and Islamic fundamentalism in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a press statement Panun Kashmir said, “We welcome the action taken by J&K government LG against the illegal encroachments and constructions across J&K, particularly by top political bigwigs. It added, “Both Centre and J&K should recognise such illegal activity of land-grabbing as not merely corruption but as an act of internal subversion.”
Panun Kashmir in a press statement, said that major political parties of J&K added fuel to the fire in the Kashmir conflict. It said, “Both, NC and PDP governments in Jammu and Kashmir nourished separatism and communalism. They operated as vehicles for the growth of Islamic fundamentalism and separatism.”
Panun Kashmir demanded that the action against illegal encroachments should reach its final conclusion. It said, “Land grab and encroachments has been an instrument of demographic war waged on Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir. It played a role in the forced migration of Kashmir Pandits from the valley. Hence, evacuating illegal encroachers should be followed to its logical end.”
As of February 6, the Jammu and Kashmir administration claimed to have retrieved 15 lakh kanals or 1.87 lakh acres of state and ‘ghacharai (grazing)’ land across the Union Territory from the anti-encroachment drive. The land retrieved included those in possession of several senior leaders across parties. Of the 15 lakh kanals retrieved, almost half (7 lakh kanals) is a part of Kashmir. Officials estimate nearly 7 lakh kanals more remain to be cleared. The leaders who have faced action include those belonging to the BJP.
