Kashmir: 4 Terrorists Killed In Back-To-Back Encounters In Shopian

Four terrorists have been killed by security forces in back-to-back encounters in South Kashmir’s Shopian. Three of the four terrorists were linked with terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed and the fourth was associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The encounters broke out in Drach and Moolu area of Shopian district on Tuesday night after joint teams of police, Army and CRPF received information about the presence of terrorists. Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said that as the joint team of security forces intensified searches towards, terrorists opened fire from their hidings which was retaliated.

Among the three Jaish terrorists killed in Drach, two have been identified as Hanan Bin Yaqoob and Jamshed, who were involved in the recent killings of a Special Police Officer and a labourer in Pulwama, police said.

On Sunday, a cop had died in the line of duty and a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was injured when terrorists fired upon a joint team of the CRPF and the Jammu and Kashmir police in Pulwama.

At present, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three day trip to J&K which will end on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile, a civilian died after a stray bullet hit him in Haal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Police said that a rifle of security personnel went off accidentally resulting in his death. The deceased person is identified as Asif Ahmed. The matter is now under investigation.
