NEW DELHI: In a remarkable achievement, a group of 12 students and two teachers from Dyal Singh Public School in Karnal have been recognized by NASA’s International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC) for their discovery of a main-belt asteroid, designated TD40. This discovery was made using data provided by the Pan-STARRS telescope, and it marks a significant milestone for the school and the students involved.

The team, led by Principal Sushma Devgun and Dr. Kaveri Chauhan, identified and registered 11 near-Earth objects during their research. Diksha, a Class XI student, played a pivotal role in the discovery of the main belt asteroid, which has now been officially recognized by IASC1.
