New Delhi: BJP leader Kapil Mishra visited Jhandewalan Temple on Thursday morning ahead of his swearing-in as a cabinet minister in the new Delhi government led by Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta.
Calling it a “historic day,” Mishra said he came to the temple not to seek blessings but to express gratitude.
“Under the leadership of Rekha Ji, a new BJP government is being formed. We are committed to implementing Prime Minister Modi’s vision for Delhi. I have come here not to ask for anything but to offer my gratitude,” Mishra said.
Mishra, who won from the Karawal Nagar seat by defeating AAP’s Manoj Tyagi by over 23,000 votes, has been a vocal critic of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal. Speaking to reporters, he reiterated his stance on AAP’s alleged corruption.
“The people of Delhi have given their verdict against AAP’s deceit. Now, there will also be a legal verdict soon,” he stated.
His wife, Priti Mishra, also expressed pride in his induction into the cabinet. “I thank PM Modi for including him in the team. The new government will work tirelessly for Delhi’s development,” she said.
Along with Mishra, six other ministers—Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, and Pankaj Kumar Singh—will take oath today at Ramlila Maidan.
The BJP’s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats, marks the party’s return to power in the capital after 27 years.
