New Delhi: BJP leader Kapil Mishra visited Jhandewalan Temple on Thursday morning ahead of his swearing-in as a cabinet minister in the new Delhi government led by Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta.

Calling it a โ€œhistoric day,โ€ Mishra said he came to the temple not to seek blessings but to express gratitude.

โ€œUnder the leadership of Rekha Ji, a new BJP government is being formed. We are committed to implementing Prime Minister Modiโ€™s vision for Delhi. I have come here not to ask for anything but to offer my gratitude,โ€ Mishra said.

Mishra, who won from the Karawal Nagar seat by defeating AAPโ€™s Manoj Tyagi by over 23,000 votes, has been a vocal critic of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader Arvind Kejriwal. Speaking to reporters, he reiterated his stance on AAPโ€™s alleged corruption.

โ€œThe people of Delhi have given their verdict against AAPโ€™s deceit. Now, there will also be a legal verdict soon,โ€ he stated.

His wife, Priti Mishra, also expressed pride in his induction into the cabinet. โ€œI thank PM Modi for including him in the team. The new government will work tirelessly for Delhiโ€™s development,โ€ she said.

Along with Mishra, six other ministersโ€”Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, and Pankaj Kumar Singhโ€”will take oath today at Ramlila Maidan.

The BJPโ€™s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats, marks the partyโ€™s return to power in the capital after 27 years.
