DEHRADUN: Kanwar Yatra has reached its peak in Uttarakhand as more than 28 lakh pilgrims have reached Haridwar for Gangajal since the Yatra began on July 14.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami who welcomed the devotees carrying Kanwar by washing their feet in Haridwar on Wednesday said, “Our government is committed to providing every facility to the Kanwar devotees as they travel to Haridwar on foot from various parts of the country. May Lord Shiva bless us all.”
The yatra is witnessing a display of faith by pilgrims as they walk on foot to get Gangajal from the holy city of Haridwar.
The district administration of Haridwar has closed the schools due to traffic rush on the routes of the district from July 20-26.
The state police have also directed the closure of meat shops and covering of alcohol shops from outside till the yatra concludes on July 26.
