NEW DELHI: Persistent rumours surrounding Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s potential candidacy in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections have been finally confirmed by her father, Amardeep Ranaut. According to media reports, Amardeep stated that Kangana will indeed be contesting the elections, and it has been affirmed that she will be representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Amardeep Ranaut disclosed to the media that Kangana’s decision to enter the political arena is finalised, but the specific constituency for her candidature is yet to be determined by the BJP. The confirmation comes on the heels of Kangana’s meeting with BJP National President JP Nadda at his residence in Shastri Nagar, Kullu, last Sunday, intensifying speculations about her political foray.
During the past week, Kangana engaged in political activities in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, attending an event organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). She asserted that her ideological stance aligns with that of the RSS. Ongoing discussions are still in progress regarding whether Kangana will run for the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency or Chandigarh.
The actress hinted at her potential candidacy with a spiritual touch during a visit to Gujarat. While praying at the shrines of Shree Somnath Jyotirlinga and Dwarkadhish, Kangana responded to queries about her electoral aspirations, stating, “Shri Krishna ki kripa rahi to ladenge (If Lord Krishna blesses me, I will fight).” She expressed admiration for the BJP-led central government’s efforts in the consecration of Lord Ram’s idol in Ayodhya, marking the end of a 600-year-long conflict.
Kangana Ranaut has been vocal in her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and her recent activities on social media have already sparked speculation about her political ambitions. On the work front, her latest film, ‘Tejas,’ a high flying action drama, failed to create a mark at the box office. Her upcoming project, ‘Emergency,’ where she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was initially slated for a November 2023 release but has been pushed to 2024. The film also features Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, late Satish Kaushik, and Mahima Chaudhary in significant roles.
