Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is back on Twitter, almost two years after her account was suspended. Her account was restored on Tuesday. She doesn’t have a blue tick yet. She has a Twitter following of 2.9 million in her restored account. Her handle is called @KanganaTeam. After her account was restored the actress tweeted, “Nice to be back here.”

A vocal supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government, Kangana never shies away from giving her opinion on hot-button issues concerning national politics. She has been a crusader against the prevalent nepotism in Bollywood and Left-bais that has ruled the roost in the film industry.

She is one of the very few mainstream actors who came out in support of Narendra Modi in the run-up to the 2019 General Election. She said, “Modi is the right choice for this country because he is here not for his father or mother but because of his own hard work,” she said.

Her Twitter account was permanently suspended in 2021 after she posted a series of tweets allegedly violating the guidelines of the micro-blogging site.

She had used her social media accounts to protest against then CM Uddhav Thackeray’s act of demolishing a part of her office in Mumbai. She also used her social media properties to highlight the circumstances under which actor Sushant Singh Rajput died, an event that’s still haunting Bollywood.

After her Twitter account was suspended  Kangana Ranaut alleged that the ban on her was indicative of the colonial mindset of big tech companies run by ‘White people’. She said she wasn’t particularly disheartened by the de-platforming as she had her own platform and voice to raise her concerns but she felt bad for the voiceless ones, who entirely depend on such platforms to share their views.

On the work front Kangana she wrapped up her latest venture Emergency where she plays the iconic character of Indira Gandhi. The film is set to release on October 20, 2023.
