NEW DELHI: Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has drawn sharp criticism for her remarks on the tragic death of Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhash, whose emotional video before his demise has gone viral. Speaking on the case, Kangana said, “The entire country is in shock. His video is heartbreaking. Fake feminism is condemnable. Extortion of crores of rupees was being done. Having said that, in 99 percent of marriage cases, it’s the men who are at fault. That’s why such mistakes also happen.”
Her comments, particularly the claim that “99 percent of marriage cases” are the fault of men, have triggered a wave of backlash online.
Rohan Dua, Executive Editor of The New Indian (@rohanduaT02) questioned her role within the BJP, tweeting, “Is motormouth Kangana Ranaut becoming more embarrassment for BJP than an asset? Despite gag orders from party leaders, Ranaut continues to speak out of turn on sensitive and grave issues hurting national and party sentiments.”

While many slammed Kangana for her remarks, others took the opportunity to mock her. Others were more direct in their criticism. @Coderxr tweeted, “#KanganaRanaut is mentally retarded. Listening to her is like shoving a bucket full of crap in your ears.”
