NEW DELHI: Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, addressed The India Mobile Congress (IMC) on Thursday, 18 July 2024, at the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi. Scindia unveiled the 2024 theme, “The Future is Now,” at Asia’s largest digital technology forum. The event is jointly organized by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India.
In his address, Scindia emphasized the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the theme as a reflection of India’s commitment to technological advancement. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision clearly manifests in this year’s theme of India Mobile Congress – ‘The Future is Now,'” Scindia stated.

Scindia also launched the official app and website of IMC. He said, “Technology is best when it brings people together. Bharat is the largest industry in the world, the most rapidly growing market in the world.” He further added, “India is no longer only the consumer but supplier.”
Discussing the development of 5G technology, Scindia outlined the dual focus on enhancing speed and reducing latency, alongside driving industry innovation. He said, “We strive to form new applications based on 5G technology… 6G is a developing technology.”
Additionally, Scindia launched the intelligent 5G villages project. The event also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IIT Jammu and the National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation, and Training (NTIPRIT) for expert-level training of DoT officers on cybersecurity.
The Minister urged more people to join the programme, emphasizing India’s fast-growing technological sector. “India’s fast-growing technological center is no more left as a consumer but a supplier, with a staggering 40% increase in size and scale in over 120+ countries,” he said.
