NEW DELHI: The JSW Indian Open 2025 is all set to bring together top Indian and international squash players at the Bombay Gymkhana from March 24-28.

 

Organized by JSW Sports, this PSA Copper Event will feature elite Indian players like Ramit Tandon, Velavan Senthilkumar, Veer Chotrani, Anahat Singh, and Akanksha Salunkhe.

 

Additionally, talented players from Egypt, Canada, Malaysia, and Japan will join the competition, making it a truly global event.

The tournament, featuring a prize pool of $40,000, marks the return of a major squash event in India since the CCI International in 2018. Matches will take place on Bombay Gymkhanaโ€™s indoor courts in the initial rounds. A full-glass outdoor court will be set up for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final to elevate the viewing experience.

 

 

Boost for Indian Squash

 

Parth Jindal, Founder of JSW Sports, emphasized the tournamentโ€™s significance, particularly with squash set to debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. โ€œThe JSW Indian Open is our effort to provide Indian squash players a strong platform to showcase their skills. With squashโ€™s Olympic debut approaching, this is the ideal time to boost the sport,โ€ he stated.

 

Indiaโ€™s top-ranked squash player, Ramit Tandon, expressed his excitement about competing at home. โ€œItโ€™s always special to play in India, and this PSA event is a great opportunity for Indian players to test themselves against international talent. This will help build momentum for LA28,โ€ Tandon said.

 

PSA CEO Alex Gough welcomed the return of a PSA event to India. โ€œHosting world-class events locally helps Indian players gain valuable experience. Itโ€™s a positive step toward strengthening Indiaโ€™s squash ecosystem,โ€ he remarked.

 

Indiaโ€™s No.2 womenโ€™s player, Anahat Singh, echoed similar sentiments. โ€œThis event is a major opportunity for Indian players to improve by facing top international talent. Itโ€™s also inspiring for young players dreaming of competing at the highest level,โ€ she said.
