Joy shortlived, unrest at Kejriwal’s home: Maliwal assaulted by former PS

NEW DELHI – In a shocking development, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Swati Maliwal alleged that she was manhandled by Bibhav Kumar, former PS and the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The incident reportedly took place at the Chief Minister’s residence in North Delhi’s Civil Lines area.

The MP made two consecutive calls to the Police Control Room (PCR) on Monday morning, reporting the alleged incident. Following the calls, a team of senior police officials from the local station was immediately dispatched to the CM’s house.

Upon arrival, the police began questioning the individuals present at the location. However, Maliwal was not available for comment at the time.

The DCP North Delhi said, “One PCR call at 9:34 AM has been received at PS Civil Lines from a lady saying she has been assaulted at CM House. After some time, MP Madam came to PS Civil Lines, however, she left stating she would give a complaint later”.

Bibhav Kumar was the personal secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He was known to be a close aide of the Chief Minister. However, he was dismissed from his services by the Directorate of Vigilance. The termination was due to a case against him in which he was accused of obstructing government work. His appointment was declared as “illegal” and “void ab initio”.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the AAP. BJP leader Kapil Mishra questioned the circumstances of the incident in a post on social media, asking why Swati Maliwal had to call the police from Kejriwal’s house and whether Kejriwal’s nephew assaulted her. He also called for clarification from the Chief Minister’s office.

This is a developing story. As of now, the AAP, and Swati Maliwal, have not shared their official versions of the events.
