SRINAGAR: The Passing-Out-Cum Attestation Parade for the 16th Basic Recruitment Training Course of Jammu and Kashmir Police Constables was held at the Subsidiary Training Centre in Sheeri, Baramulla on Wednesday. The event was graced by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, who served as the chief guest.

During the ceremony, he reviewed the parade and received the salute. A total of 510 recruit constables successfully graduated after completing their foundational recruit training, which had commenced in November last year.

“As technology is getting advanced day by day, narco-terrorism and psychological warfare are emerging as the biggest challenges for us. J&K Police along with other security agencies have to counter these threats effectively.”

While congratulating the J&K police for fighting on multiple fronts, the LG said, “J&K police is full of talent and has left no stone unturned to protect the honour and dignity of the union territory (UT).

“In the last three years, the situation has changed a lot and common people are living a peaceful life. But some subversive elements continue to play their part to disrupt the peace as they are not happy with the poor people living a peaceful life. J&K police must adopt a zero-tolerance policy against these anti-peace elements.”

When discussing the fight against terrorism, he also emphasised the importance of simultaneously upholding law and order. “There are other challenges as well that include social crimes, day-to-day crimes, and normal policing. I must say that J&K police is the country’s best force,” the LG remarked, highlighting the complexity of managing every aspect essential for maintaining equilibrium.

At the event, he also hailed the J&K Police for launching massive civic action programmes to rope in youth into various sports-related activities.

Addressing the newly graduated, Sinha encouraged them, stating, “You should take a pledge and ensure that you will fight against terror and terrorism. Youth should make eliminating terror as your ultimate goal.”

Sinha also offered heartfelt condolences to the brave police officers who have sacrificed their lives, including DSP Humayun Bhat and others. He expressed that Jammu and Kashmir, as well as the entire country, are extremely grateful to these courageous people for giving their lives for their nation and homeland.

Additionally, he encouraged the police force to take a proactive role in smart policing, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
