JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the BRICS Youth Council Entrepreneurship Run-up Event at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, emphasizing the need for empowering youth through innovation and entrepreneurship. In his remarks, the Lieutenant Governor praised the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC), IIM Jammu, and partner organizations for creating an engaging platform for innovators, budding entrepreneurs, and youth leaders to present groundbreaking business ideas and initiatives.
Highlighting transformative measures undertaken by the government, the Lieutenant Governor said the efforts of the Department of Industries & Commerce have revolutionized Jammu and Kashmir’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. He noted that these initiatives are fostering innovation and enabling the youth to excel in research, development, and advanced technologies. “In recent years, Jammu and Kashmir has experienced an unprecedented rise in its industrial ecosystem.

This progress is driving a culture of creativity, technological advancement, and innovation. I envision our youth as leading entrepreneurs, contributing significantly to the nation’s development,” the Lieutenant Governor said. He credited the government’s focused policy interventions for establishing J&K as a vibrant hub for start-ups and entrepreneurship. Among these initiatives, Mission Yuva stands out as a program aimed at creating a robust support system for young entrepreneurs in the region.
The Lieutenant Governor further emphasized reforms in the education sector, prioritizing skill development in Industry 4.0 technologies. He highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen incubation centres and provide enhanced resources for start-up growth. “I urge our youth to dream big, commit to their aspirations, and shape a dynamic Jammu and Kashmir. Together, we can propel the region’s growth to new heights,” he said.

Addressing the disconnect between academia and industry, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of aligning human resources with market demands. He noted that youth entrepreneurship is vital not only for India but also for global development. Both developed and developing nations are looking to leverage their demographic dividend to address 21st-century challenges.
On the industrial progress in Jammu and Kashmir, he cited the impact of the Central Sector Industrial Development Scheme, which has significantly boosted the region’s economic prospects. The Lieutenant Governor also called for educational institutions and youth to play a pivotal role in transforming India into a knowledge-based economy, contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Prof. BS Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, shared the institution’s commitment to nurturing young talent as future business leaders and entrepreneurs. The event also featured a detailed presentation on Mission Yuva, outlining its objectives and strategies to develop a comprehensive business ecosystem for J&K’s enterprising youth.
