SRINAGAR: Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary who is also the Nodal officer for development in Shopian district, today chaired a meeting to review the progress of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) across the district.
Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, gave a detailed presentation on the district’s progress and initiatives for the timely completion of projects to ensure functional household tap water connection to all households targeted under the scheme.
It was informed that a total of 61 projects have been approved for the district out of which administrative approval has been granted for 59 projects while work has been allotted for 17 schemes. Steps are underway to initiate work on all the schemes aimed at ensuring 100 per cent household coverage for drinking water supply in the district.
Dr Shahid praised the district administration of Shopian for its efficiency in clearing bottlenecks, making encumbrance-free land available, and expediting the tendering process, allotment of works, and start of work. He underscored the importance of the Jal Jeevan Mission as a flagship program aimed at coverage of all rural households.
Senior officers of district administration including the Jal Shakti Department were also present in the meeting and have an overview of the progress achieved.
