J&K Police Seize 250g Of Heroin, Over ₹1Cr in Cash

SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday said that 250gm heroin and cash of over one crore rupees were recovered from two persons, one of whom was killed in an accident while attempting to flee, in the Udhampur district.

“On August 3, at about 10.30 pm a patrolling party of police station Udhampur noticed two persons moving in a suspicious manner near Gole Mela petrol pump. On seeing the police party both persons ran towards the main road,” police said.

As they attempted to flee, one of the two was knocked down by an unknown vehicle. The police immediately shifted the injured person to the district hospital, from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.

The injured person, who was identified as Mukhtiar Ahmed from Kupwara, later succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the police managed to nab the other accused, identified as Jagtar Singh of Taran Taran Punjab. “Upon thorough searching of his vehicle, approximately 250gm of heroin was found along with cash amounting to more than ₹1.9 crores.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that both the persons were involved in the narco trade. However, a detailed investigation of the case is going on,” the spokesperson added.
