SRINAGAR: Authorities in South Kashmirโ€™s Anantnag district have demolished a structure linked to a Pakistan-based terror facilitator, reinforcing their crackdown on unlawful encroachments aiding extremist activities.

In a coordinated operation with the district administration, Anantnag Police dismantled an illegally constructed house and plinth in Rekha Hassanpora, reclaiming encroached government land. The property was identified as belonging to Haroon Rashid Ganie, an operative affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

According to officials, Haroon has been orchestrating terror-related activities from Pakistan since 2018, playing a crucial role in facilitating cross-border terrorism.

โ€œThis action is part of a wider initiative aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and eliminating support mechanisms that threaten national security. Anantnag Police remains resolute in its efforts to curb unlawful elements and ensure that no individual or group misuses government land for illicit purposes,โ€ the statement from law enforcement read.

Widespread Anti-Terror Raids Conducted in Bandipora

Meanwhile, Bandipora Police launched search operations at multiple locations across the district in connection with terror-related cases.

The searches targeted the residences of Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Sajad Ahmad Nawoo, both suspected overground workers (OGWs) of banned outfits Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) and Jammu & Kashmir Peopleโ€™s League. These raids were linked to ongoing investigations under FIR No. 7/2024 and 62/2024 at Sumbal Police Station.

Additionally, search operations were conducted at the homes of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh and Ghulam Mohammad Waza, both suspected to be involved with Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, in connection with FIR No. 04/2024 of Bandipora Police Station.

Another property in Vigpara was searched under FIR No. 06/2024 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The raids were carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate, and officials confirmed that while no incriminating material was recovered, all suspects were interrogated.

Cracking Down on Terror Networks

Authorities revealed that the investigation aims to dismantle terrorist and separatist networks operating from across the border, who are conspiring with local terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir.

These raids also targeted suspected locations of individuals involved in creating new OGW modules to provide logistical, financial, and operational support to terror outfits. Officials emphasized that stringent legal action will be taken against those abetting terrorism in any form.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by identifying and neutralizing overground workers (OGWs) and ensuring their prosecution under the law.
