J&K: 4 Terrorists Killed In Twin Encounters

Three terrorists, including a foreigner, were killed in an encounter in the Khandipora area of Awantipora in the Pulwama district.

Three terrorists, including a foreigner, were killed in an encounter in the Khandipora area of Awantipora in the Pulwama district. Meanwhile, an unidentified terrorist was killed in an ongoing encounter at Semthan village of Bijbhera in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir, Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

“01 #terrorist killed in #Bijbehara encounter. Operation going on,” the J&K police tweeted.

An official had said that a joint team of police, army and CRPF launched a search operation in the area after receiving information about the presence of militants.

The killed local terrorist is identified as Shakir Ahmad, son of Habibullah, a resident of Ladermud, was killed. As per police records, he was linked with the proscribed terror outfit HM and was involved in several terror crime cases, including attacks on police, security forces and civilian atrocities.

In another encounter, three terrorists, including a foreigner, were killed in an encounter in the Khandipora area of Awantipora. The encounter broke out after 50 RR and police cordoned off the area to flush out terrorists.

“03 terrorists killed in Awantipora encounter. Identification being ascertained. As per our source, 1 is FT & 1 local militant of LeT namely Mukhtiyar Bhat, involved in several militant crimes including the killing of 01 ASI of CRPF & 2 RPF personnel. A big success for us,” ADGP Kashmir said in another tweet.

“LeT cmdr Mukhtar Bhat among the 3 killed militants. As per source, he along with FT was going for fidayeen attack on SFs camp. 01 AK-74 rifle, 01 AK-56 rifle & 1 pistol recovered. Awantipora Police & Army averted a major militant incident,” he said further in another tweet.

Meanwhile, police at a Srinagar checkpoint in Harnambal, arrested two hybrid terrorists identified as Aamir Mushtaq Dar and Kabil Rashid. Incriminating materials and two grenades were recovered from their possession.

During questioning, they disclosed the name of another associate, namely Aqib Jamal Bhat. In swift action, he was also arrested.

According to his disclosure, a joint team of Srinagar Police and Army (62RR) recovered an IED weighing approximately 10 kg in the Rangreth area, which was later destroyed by the Bomb Disposal squad. All three arrested hybrid terrorists are linked with LeT and TRF.
