Jharkhand’s bold leap into green energy: India’s first hydrogen industry unveiled in Jamshedpur

JAMSHEDPUR: In the realm of green energy, Jharkhand is marching forward with remarkable strides. But this isn’t the sole tale; the state’s ambitions extend further, as it embarks on a journey to establish India’s inaugural hydrogen-based industry in the industrial city of Jamshedpur. On Friday, the Jharkhand government and TCPL Green Energy Solution Private Limited (TGESPL) joined hands through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

This initiative is not merely confined to the realms of industry; it carries the promise of fostering a substantial impact on employment, envisaging a surge of opportunities for more than 310 individuals in direct and indirect capacities. This city, intertwined with the legacy of Tata, is set to become the canvas for India’s maiden hydrogen-focused industry. Such an impetus to the local economy is poised to be a harbinger of progress, not only for the region but also for the entire state.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren underscored his fervor for the project and its potential to reshape the trajectory of the state’s growth and green endeavors. The proposed facility holds remarkable promises, boasting a capacity that exceeds 4000 hydrogen internal combustion engines, complemented by fuel-agnostic marvels, and an impressive array of over 10,000 battery systems.

“This step will prove to be a milestone not only for Jharkhand but also for the entire nation”, emphasised CM Hemant Soren.

 The substantial investment of INR 354.28 crores acts as a bridge to propel groundbreaking advancements in the domain of hydrogen-based technologies and energy systems. This investment heralds an era of cutting-edge progress and transformative developments in the realm of sustainable energy. With the development of over 4000 hydrogen Internal Combustion (IC) engines and the marvel of fuel-agnostic engines, the horizon of possibilities broadens.
