Jewar Airport: Everything About Asia’s Largest Airport Coming Up In UP In 2024

JEWAR/NEW DELHI: Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar airport, once completed will be Asia’s largest airport and 4th largest in the world. It will also pitchfork Uttar Pradesh on the global logistics map. It will be equipped with future-ready aviation, seamless connectivity, quick aircraft turnarounds and zero emission construction.

The Jewar airport will have passenger terminals with 70 million capacity,186 airport stands, Cargo terminal: 1 million tonne capacity.  It will be connected with Yamuna Expressway, Metro and 800-km long high-speed rail line proposed between Delhi Varanasi. This high speed corridor will also have station at Noida International Airport.

For around 30-35 years, there has been a demand for such an airport. In the absence of the will power, this work could not have taken off. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath government took the decision in 2017 itself that Asia’s largest airport would be constructed in Jewar region.

Uttar Pradesh To Have 5 International Airports

With this airport becoming a reality, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become the only state in India to have five international airports, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi lays the foundation stone of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar on Thursday. The greenfield airport in Jewar will be the largest in India once fully operationalized and will unclog the Delhi Airport, extending superior air connectivity to people travelling to and from Delhi-NCR.

Noida International Airport will have the lower airport development fees as UP govt gives concession and tax benefits to major infrastructure development projects in the state, which in turn will reduce burden on travellers.

A top Uttar Pradesh government official said:

Uttar Pradesh’s 5th international airport, Noida International Airport in Jewar, is being developed with an estimated investment of Rs 34,000 cr. This airport is expected to create employment opportunities for over 1 lakh people

According to the detailed project report, Noida International Airport will be environmental friendly with zero carbon emission and will ensure that nature does not suffer at the cost of progress.

Jewar Airport To Be Operational In 2024

Noida International Airport will be operational in 2024. UP’s 5th  international airport will be developed with an estimated investment of Rs 34,000 crore. This airport will open the way for employment for more than one lakh people.

It is estimated to have movement of 40 lakh passengers in the first year at Noida International Airport (NIA)

Yogi Adityanath government has acquired 5,845 hectares of land for this airport. It is estimated that by 2024 the first phase of the airport will be ready. Through this, UP will have a total of five international airports.

Two international airports are already functional in Lucknow and Varanasi, Kushinagar airport has been started and soon the work of Ayodhya and Noida International Airport will also be completed.

After the formation of Noida International Airport, 178 aircraft will be able to be parked simultaneously. The construction of this airport, the air traffic load of Delhi airport will be reduced. Noida International Airport will be the fourth largest airport in the world. For now the world’s largest airport is in Saudi Arabia (77600 hectares), Denver Airport of America is second (13571 hectares), third is also in America. Jewar is going to be the fourth largest airport in the world.
