Jayant backs Waqf reform, hails justice and Ambedkar legacy

Summary

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary supports the Waqf Board reforms, invoking justice, Ambedkarโ€™s vision, and national interest. He criticizes Congress for politicizing issues and praises Indiaโ€™s diplomatic success in securing Tahawwur Ranaโ€™s extradition.

NEW DELHI : In a bold reaffirmation of his partyโ€™s stance, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary stated that he had consulted prominent Muslim figures both before and after the recent changes to the Waqf Board law. โ€œNot a single voice of dissent came from them. They are confident that Lok Dal has stayed true to its core beliefs and trust that a constructive outcome will follow,โ€ he said.

Targeting the Congress, Chaudhary accused its leaders of fuelling unrest without having access to key intelligence. โ€œThey are irresponsibly stirring public emotions. But the truth stands tallโ€”Indiaโ€™s diplomatic approach has just achieved a breakthrough. Tahawwur Rana, born in Pakistan and sheltered in Canada, is being extradited for the 26/11 terror attacks. Who can oppose justice? The government deserves appreciation, not agitation. Justice is on its way,โ€ he remarked.

On the violence that broke out in West Bengal, he questioned the governmentโ€™s preparedness. โ€œWhy was the situation allowed to escalate? Swift preventive steps couldโ€™ve avoided destruction of both public and personal property. Despite clear warnings, no action was taken. As for the Waqf Board lawโ€”it was passed through due parliamentary process, incorporating suggestions and undergoing thorough deliberation,โ€ Chaudhary stressed.

In a key moment for the RLD, leaders and community influencers from various states formally joined the party on Saturday, a move seen as expanding the partyโ€™s national imprint. They were welcomed with the traditional RLD scarf by Jayant Chaudhary, who extended his greetings and acknowledged the experience they bring.

He added, โ€œFrom different regions, seasoned leaders have chosen to walk with us. Together, we will honour the vision of Chaudhary Charan Singh ji and take it forward.โ€

Underscoring his commitment to constitutional ideals, Chaudhary stated, โ€œThis nation stands on the foundation laid by Babasaheb Ambedkar. We draw inspiration from his teachings and pledge to continue working with integrity and inclusion.โ€

On the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti, the RLD also kicked off a six-month membership campaign that will continue until October 15. โ€œApril 14 is a symbolic and fitting day to launch this effort. Babasaheb was not merely a community leaderโ€”he was an architect of modern India,โ€ Chaudhary said. Party workers will engage citizens directly across towns and villages to bolster grassroots presence.

Expressing continued support for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, he highlighted the rising acceptance of Prime Minister Narendra Modiโ€™s leadership. โ€œThere is a growing wave of support for PM Modi across the nation. As Amit Shah recently noted, even Telangana could witness an NDA government in the next cycle,โ€ he asserted.

Concluding his remarks, Chaudhary noted Indiaโ€™s growing stature globally under Modiโ€™s stewardship. โ€œAmid global uncertainties, India has become a beacon of stability and respect. Following the G20 Summit, weโ€™ve established strong ties with major global powers. Under PM Modi, India is confidently moving toward developed nation status,โ€ he declared.
