For the majority of news-consuming Indians, Amul girl’s sharp yet endearing commentary on current affairs has been an event to look forward to for the five decades.
Now, Amul’s topical toons are such a rage that personalities who feature in it, feel privileged to have made it in the print equivalent of the Hall of Fame.
Making it to the Amul ad campaign is no less prestigious today than entering a world record book, or getting a place in Madame Tussauds wax statue museum.
Ricky Kej, Bengaluru-based music composer and producer who recently lifted the third Grammy Award of his career in Los Angeles, US ‘buttressed’ this point when Amul published an ad featuring him. “You know you have made it in life, when
@Amul_Coop Amul acknowledges you through their comic strip. So grateful for all the love :-)”

Ravindra Jadeja – The all-rounder was fined 25 per cent of his match fees because he applied an ointment on his fingers before his bowling spell. Jadeja, a left-arm spinner was initially accused of ball tampering by the competing team Australia.
However, the match referee adjudged that even though Jadeja had breached a certain clause of ICC rules, it didn’t amount to tampering as he was convinced that he had applied it for medical purposes.
The video snippet where Jadeja is seen applying the cream went viral. Amul was quick to write witty comments on the much-discussed event advising Jadeja to dip his fingers in soothing butter.
Allu Arjun –After the stupendous success of Pushpa, Allu Arjun’s pan-India superstardom was honoured by an Amul ad with the caption, “Have some Amullu Arjun” and a recreation of the song, “balam same”.
Sania Mirza- Honouring the sentiments of all millennials who grew up with tennis star Sania Mirza – India’s first legit pin-up girl from the field of sports – Amul ran an ad campaign with the caption “Kabhi Alvida na Sania”, “Hang up racket, open packet”.
