During their interactions at the summit, PM Modi reiterated the commitment of India and Italy towards fostering collaborative efforts aimed at securing a sustainable and prosperous future. The warmth and rapport displayed between PM Modi and Meloni at COP28 echoed previous encounters between the leaders. Their exchange during the G20 Summit in September, marked by laughter and friendly gestures, hinted at a growing friendship rooted in mutual respect and shared goals.Meloni’s public acknowledgment of PM Modi as a “friend” during her heartfelt birthday wishes to him on social media further underscored the strong bond between the leaders and their respective nations.

The Italian Prime Minister’s visit to India in March, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations, was significant. Her admiration for PM Modi’s global leadership was reflected by her tweet which read, “PM Modi is the most loved one of all (leaders) around the world. This is really proven that he has been a major leader and congratulations for that.”

Infact, Modi also took to X to give her a warm welcome and congratulatory remarks on her historic position as Italy’s first female and youngest Prime Minister showcased the evolving and positive dynamics between the two nations.

“I welcome Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on her first visit to India. In last year’s elections, the people of Italy voted for her and she became the first woman and youngest Italian Prime Minister. I congratulate her on behalf of Indians for this historic achievement,” PM Modi had said.
