NEW DELHI: In line with the Government of India initiative “Dekho Apna Desh” to promote domestic tourism, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a special tourist train called Shri Ramayana Yatra Tours.
The train, that was flagged off from Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station on Sunday evening, is slated to cover all prominent places associated with the life of Lord Rama.
The new initiative is aimed at promoting religious tourism given the improved COVID-19 situation.
IRCTC officials said that train will have its first halt at Ayodhya Railway station, where tourist can visit Ram Janmabhoomi site, Hanuman temple and additionally Bharat Mandir .
The next destination would be Sitamarhi in Bihar, where the travellers can visit Sita Ji’s birthplace and Ram-Janki Temple in Janakpur, covered by road, the IRCTC said.
The train would then proceed to Varanasi, where the tourists would get to visit temples at Varanasi, Prayag, Shringverpur and Chitrakoot by road. Night stay will be provided at Varanasi, Prayag and Chitrakoot.
The statement said that the next halt of the train would be Nasik wherein the visit to Trayambakeshwar temple and Panchvati will be covered. After Nasik, the next destination will be Hampi which is the ancient Krishkindha city.
On the 17th day, the train journey will culminate at Rameshwaram, after which the train would begin the return journey to Delhi.
The guests would cover roughly 7,500 kms in this entire tour.
The train interiors and facilities have been designed keeping the travellers’s comfort in mind. The IRCTC said that this state of art Deluxe AC Tourist Train offers features such as two fine dining restaurants, a modern kitchen, shower cubicles in coaches, sensor based washroom functions and a foot massager.
The fully air-conditioned train provides two types of accommodation — 1st AC and 2nd AC — and comes at a price of Rs. 1,02,095 for 1AC class and Rs. 82,950 per person for 2AC.
The train has enhanced security features of CCTV cameras and security guards for each coach.
Package price covers train journey in AC classes, accommodation in AC hotels, all meals (vegetarian only), all transfer & sight-seeing in AC Vehicles, travel insurance and services of IRCTC Tour Managers etc. All necessary health precautions and measures are being taken care of and the attempt is to provide safe and healthy travel during the tour.
Government/PSU employees can avail LTC facility on this tour as per eligibility based on the guidelines issued by the finance ministry
To ensure the safety measures post COVID 19 in this deluxe tourist train, full COVID-19 Vaccination is mandatory for the guests falling in the age group 18 and above. Beside this, IRCTC will also provide a safety kit to all tourists with face mask, hand gloves and sanitizer. Temperature check of all tourists and staff, frequent train sanitization at halt stations etc and other precautions will be ensured.
The IRCTC also said that the next tour will start on December 12 with similar price and duration. The tour will be completed in 17 days
