NEW DELHI: Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan, has kicked off her pre-wedding celebrations ahead of her upcoming nuptials with fiancé Nupur Shikhare, scheduled for January. After a traditional Maharashtrian Kelvan ceremony, another festive event took place on Monday. During this event, the women from both families adorned Ira with floral jewellry.

For the unversed, Ira and Nupur’s engagement took place last year, and they are set to exchange their vows in January 2024. During their Maharashtrian Kelvan ceremony, Ira was treated to delicious food and dressed in Maharashtrian sarees. She completed her look with the traditional nath. The recent photos capture Ira wearing a vibrant red cotton saree, accessorised with imitation floral jewellry. She was also photographed with Nupur during the festivities.
In a recent interview with News18, Aamir Khan revealed that his daughter’s wedding is set to mark the beginning of the new year. The actor confirmed the wedding date and praised his future son-in-law, saying, “Ira is getting married on January 3. The boy she has chosen, though his nickname is Popeye, his real name is Nupur. He is a trainer and has arms like Popeye. He is a wonderful young man.
“When Ira was battling depression, he was there for her. He is someone who has consistently supported her emotionally. I am delighted that they are so happy together. They share a strong connection, take care of each other, and are genuinely concerned for each other’s well-being.”

On the work front, Aamir Khan last appeared in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ a film that generated significant anticipation among fans before its release but fell short of box office expectations. The comedy-drama received mixed reviews, with some critiques directed at the star’s performance. Following that, he made a special appearance in Kajol’s ‘Salaam Venky.’ Currently, the actor has resumed work, although further information regarding his upcoming project is still pending.
