The thrill of making reels in dangerous locations cost two teenagers in Bihar their lives after a train ran over them on the first day of the New Year.
Three friends were filming over a railway bridge in Bihar’s Khagaria when the incident happened. The third boy had a close shave with death as he managed to jump off the bridge into the river below.
The three friends were walking to the nearby Maa Katyayani temple, following the railway tracks. They reached a railway bridge built over the Bagmati river located on the Samastipur-Saharsa railway section. They were filming themselves over Bridge Number 51 when the Janaki Express train ran over two of them.
The two boys, Nitish Kumar and Sonu Kumar, aged between 15-17, uploaded the reels with the song ‘2022 mein aukat khakar walon 2023 mein bachkar rahna’ on their Instagram account before meeting their tragic fate. Fifteen minutes later, they were crushed and dragged for over 15 meters by the speeding train.
Aman Kumar, the third boy who witnessed this horrifying scene, was only a few yards away from a speeding train. He apparently decided to take a chance and jumped off the bridge into the Bagmati river. In a bid to save his life, he got badly injured, breaking his arms and hip upon impact.
Speaking to the media, Aman said that they could not see the incoming train because of the dense fog. Presently, his condition remains critical and is undergoing treatment.
On Nitish’s Instagram profile, it was discovered that several reels shared by the trio earlier were filmed alongside railway tracks or over railway bridges.
