NEW DELHI: As part of efforts to bolster bilateral relations and naval cooperation, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tushil docked at Casablanca on December 27, 2024. Morocco, with its strategic maritime position along the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean, shares common interests with India in fostering regional maritime security.
This visit underscores the deepening ties between the two nations’ navies. Over the past year, three Indian Navy ships—Tabar, Tarkash, and Sumedha—have visited Casablanca, reflecting growing trust and interoperability.

During its two-day stay, the crew of INS Tushil will engage with the Royal Moroccan Navy through professional interactions, hosting senior officials and fostering goodwill. A key highlight will be the Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea, aimed at enhancing interoperability and sharing best practices between the navies.

INS Tushil, a recently commissioned frigate, joined the Indian Navy on December 9, 2024, in Russia. Commanded by Captain Peter Varghese and manned by a 250-member crew, the ship is en route to its home port in Karwar. Along its journey, the frigate will participate in joint exercises with allied navies, advancing India’s maritime diplomacy and regional partnerships.
