NEW DELHI: Paparazzo Viral Bhayani faces backlash and calls for legal action after his controversial Instagram story drew ire for offensive comments about Hindu religious figures. Bhayani compared Goddess Sita to Nita Ambani, wife of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, following the viral wedding of their son Anant Ambani.
Bhayani’s now-deleted Instagram post read, “Nowadays only 2 husbands matter in India, Sita’s & Nita’s,” prompting outrage and criticism from users on the platform X. The post, made after Anant Ambani’s high-profile wedding attended by global personalities like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, sparked speculation about its connection to the Ram Mandir inauguration.
In response to the public uproar, Bhayani issued an apology on Instagram, stating, “I apologize for this story, but I have no intentions to hurt any religious sentiments.” Despite the apology, dissatisfaction lingers among netizens who question the recurring trend of offending religious sentiments followed by apologies.
Sorry if it hurt anyone. Im extremely sorry and have deleted the story. 🙏

Netizens express their discontent on X, criticising Bhayani for his offensive post and subsequent apology. One user remarks, “It has become fashion, first post the stories about Hindu bhagwan and then apologize,” while another adds, “Shame on you.”
Reacting to Bhayani’s statement, a user comments, “Soch to liya kar post karne se pehle,” emphasizing the need for thoughtful consideration before posting. Others express frustration at the recurring pattern of intentional actions followed by apologies.

Calls for legal action emerge, with one user stating, “Time to take legal action!” The dissatisfaction among users reflects a growing sentiment against the misuse of freedom of expression to offend religious sentiments.
Despite the controversy, Bhayani had been actively sharing content from Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The three-day extravagant celebration took place from March 1 to March 3, 2024, with the wedding scheduled for July 12, 2024.
This incident raises concerns about the responsibility of public figures, including paparazzi, in respecting religious sentiments and the potential consequences of offensive content in the age of social media. The incident also highlights the evolving dynamics between freedom of expression and the need for sensitivity in public discourse.
