Srinagar: The Y20 pre-summit kicked off in Ladakh with 20 delegates from various countries being warmly welcomed upon their arrival at the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport on Wednesday.

The Ladakh administration has organized the pre-summit, which will run until April 28, and around 100 youth delegates will attend various programs with a focus on involvement from local youth in different fields such as sports, entrepreneurship, art, and medicine.

The three-day summit will include discussions and deliberations on various critical topics, providing a valuable opportunity for global youth to consult with G20 member states and reflect on priority areas, culminating in policy recommendations that would prove beneficial to the Ladakh region.

On the first day of the summit, delegates visited local places of interest, including Hemis and Thiksey monasteries and Shanti Stupa, to gain an appreciation of the region’s rich culture and history.

On the second day, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor BD Mishra will address the delegates at the Sindhu Sanskriti Auditorium, speaking on the importance of youth in building a better future and how the summit is providing a platform for youth to interact and learn from each other.

On the last day of the pre-summit, Union minister Anurag Thakur will interact with the delegates and participate in a youth dialogue. The Ladakh region’s strategic location and the Youth-20 pre-summit offer an opportunity to showcase its potential for economic growth, tourism, and development while providing a significant boost to the local economy.

The administration officials have ensured adequate security measures and other arrangements for the program’s smooth conduct. The Youth-20 pre-summit is an excellent initiative that brings together global youth to shape the world’s future, and Thakur said, “I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
