NEW DELHI: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team aims to end their home leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25 on a high. They face defending champions the Netherlands on 24th and 25th February at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium.
India’s Journey So Far
India started strong with a thrilling 3-2 win against England. The second game saw them battle hard, ending in a 2-2 draw, but they lost 2-1 in the shootout.
Against Spain, India fought bravely but fell short. They lost 3-4 in a close contest and suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the next match.
Germany posed a tough challenge. India lost 0-4 in the first match but bounced back impressively, securing a 1-0 victory in the second game. This win boosted their confidence.

India is seventh in the table with seven points from six games. They aim to build on their recent success and bring high energy to their clash against the Netherlands.
The Dutch team is in top form, winning five of their six matches. Their recent dominant performances, including 5-1 and 6-0 wins over England, place them second in the standings with 15 points.
“The Netherlands are one of the strongest teams in the world. It’s going to be tough, but we are motivated to give our best. Our win against Germany gave us confidence, and we have worked on our weaknesses,” said India’s captain Salima Tete.
India and the Netherlands have met seven times since 2013. The Dutch have won five matches, while India has secured just one victory, with one match ending in a draw. This history highlights the challenge ahead.
“The head-to-head record favors them, but we believe we can turn things around. Every match is a chance to improve. We are confident in our abilities and will give everything to challenge them,” Tete added.
