NEW DELHI: Mumbai’s Nikhil Patil has won the Indian Sports Photography Award 2025. His stunning shot of Sunil Chhetri’s 100th match clinched the top prize at the first-ever ISPA event.
The Indian Sports Photography Award 2025 ceremony took place at Bangalore International Centre. It honored the best visual storytellers in Indian sports.

The event saw participation from photographers across the country, each showcasing their best captures from various sporting events.

Recognizing the Best in Indian Sports Photography
Neha Ganeriwal won in the Women in Sports category. Her image highlighted the strength and resilience of female athletes in India. Sandeep Parshuram Pangerkar secured third place for his cricket photograph, which showcased an intense mid-air moment during a match.
The judging panel was led by Olympic medalist Gagan Narang. He praised the photographers for capturing powerful sporting moments that tell compelling stories. Sports journalist Sharda Ugra announced the winners on Narang’s behalf, as he was unable to attend in person.
Gagan Narang said, “Sports photography is about freezing moments that tell a story. These winners have done exactly that.”
He added, “Sunil Chhetri’s 100th match moment is full of grit, passion, and determination. The cricket image captures subjects mid-air, adding a wow factor. The Women in Sports photograph highlights the dedication of female athletes. All images beautifully depict the motion and intensity of sports.”
Paul R, founder of the Positive Sports Vibe Community, shared his vision behind ISPA. He said, “This award was created to honor those who bring sports to life through their lens. The talent showcased here is just the beginning.”
