NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command (ENC) captivates thousands with a stunning Operational Demonstration (Op Demo) at Ramakrishna Beach, Visakhapatnam, on January 4, 2025. The event highlights the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities and maritime strength, drawing a massive audience, including dignitaries and local citizens.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, attends as the Chief Guest, while Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the ENC, leads the event. The demonstration includes thrilling displays by naval ships, submarines, aircraft, and Marine Commandos (MARCOS), emphasizing the Navy’s role in safeguarding India’s maritime borders.

The event begins with a bomb burst manoeuvre by Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft, showcasing precision flying and ground attack capabilities. Submarines perform a sail past, demonstrating their stealth and destructive potential. MARCOS execute a high-risk tactical insertion and extraction, highlighting their elite skills in special operations.
An amphibious demonstration illustrates seamless coordination between the Navy, Army, and Air Force, with troops landing on simulated enemy shores. Helicopters showcase their versatility in naval operations through landing demonstrations, while paratroopers conduct a combat-free fall to display their infiltration capabilities. A search and rescue (SAR) operation demonstrates the Navy’s commitment to humanitarian missions.

The grand finale features a traditional ENC Band beating Retreat ceremony, a flawless continuity drill, and an awe-inspiring laser and drone show. The ceremonial sunset and the Hornpipe Dance, performed by Sea Cadet Corps children, add cultural significance to the event.
Chief Minister Naidu praises the Navy’s valour, technological advancements, and community outreach. He highlights Andhra Pradesh’s strong ties with the Indian Navy and its crucial role in national security. Vice Admiral Pendharkar thanked the state government and local administration for their support and acknowledged the enthusiastic participation of Andhra Pradesh’s citizens.
