NEW DELHI: Strengthening its maritime ties and regional security cooperation, the Indian Navy has deployed INS Shardul and a Long-Range Maritime Surveillance P8I aircraft to Indonesia. These platforms are participating in the prestigious International Fleet Review (IFR) 2025, which is being held from February 15 to February 22 in Bali.

The event, reviewed by the President of Indonesia, is hosting naval forces from multiple countries, underscoring global maritime collaboration.
As part of the IFR engagements, the Indian Navy will actively participate in high-level discussions such as the International Maritime Security Symposium and strategic tactical floor games.
The naval crew will also take part in multinational social and environmental initiatives, including a city parade, baby turtle release, coral and mangrove plantation, and beach cleaning drives. These initiatives reinforce Indiaโs commitment to maritime conservation and cooperation.

Post-IFR 2025, INS Shardul and the P8I aircraft will transition to Exercise Komodo. Exercise Komodo will bring together various navies to conduct coordinated operations, highlighting joint efforts in ensuring stability and security in international waters.
This participation follows the recent engagement of INS Mumbai and a P8I aircraft in the LA PEROUSE exercise held in Indonesia in January 2025.
Additionally, it aligns with the high-level diplomatic and military engagement during the visit of Admiral Muhammad Ali, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, to India. Admiral Ali was part of the distinguished delegation that accompanied His Excellency President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest at Indiaโs Republic Day Parade 2025.

Indiaโs consistent involvement in international maritime exercises is a testament to its unwavering commitment to the principle of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
