NEW DELHI: Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, unveiled the theme for this India Mobile Congress 2024 during a ceremony held in New Delhi today, on July 18. The eighth edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) promises to be a pivotal event, marking India’s ascent as a global leader in telecommunications and technology.
Highlighting India’s transformative journey in the telecom sector, Minister Scindia declared, “India is no longer merely a consumer but also a significant supplier of global technology.” While talking about India’s achievement he added, “India is a country that followed the world in 4G, which marched together with the world in 5G, and will lead the world in 6G.”

Underlining India’s remarkable growth, Minister Scindia noted, “India has become the largest and most rapidly growing communications market globally, having leapfrogged technology over the past decade.” This growth trajectory is set to be showcased during the IMC scheduled from October 15-18 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, coinciding with the World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly 2024.
Talking about the two events Scindia said, “2024 will be a hallmark year. We are conducting two events concurrently. One is international and one is national..”
The upcoming congress is expected to host around 400 exhibitors, including 1000 startups, and attract an estimated 150,000 attendees from over 120 countries. Minister Scindia also announced a pioneering initiative aimed at bolstering the startup ecosystem. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will introduce a new testing and reimbursement scheme, allocating Rs 25 crore to support startups and micro-small enterprises (MSEs) with up to Rs 50 lakh each.
The IMC 2024 promises a comprehensive platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to converge and explore the latest trends in telecommunications and technology. With a focus on global connectivity and technological advancements, India is poised to redefine its role in the global tech landscape.
